Health and Wellness (Addiction)

Whether you're struggling with living a healthy lifestyle, managing a chronic health condition, need help with stress management or having difficulties with alcoholism/addiction; making changes can be difficult. Many times we just don't know where to start and become discouraged before we even begin. This usually leads to us not making the needed changes we know are necessary and continuing to lead an unhealthy life style. As a Certified Health Coach I have received additional specialized training in providing evidence-based interventions to help you achieve your goals.

Diet and Physical Activity

As a weight lifter and avid runner, I have enjoyed the benefits and rewards of a healthy lifestyle. This has been a passion of mine for almost 30 years and it is my desire to help others achieve their goals.  I am well aware that even contemplating going down this road can be a daunting task for some people. What are your health and wellness goals? What difficulties have you faced trying to live a healthy lifestyle? Are you having trouble with consistency? Is maintaining your diet an issue? These are just a handful of issues that we can collaboratively work through together and decide what will work best for you.  Some people are under the assumption that all you have to do is go to the gym and watch what you eat. However, the road to health and wellness is an inside out job, that sometimes requires the assistance of a professional to help you move past any barriers that are preventing you from reaching your goals.

Alcoholism and Addiction

Is your life spiraling out of control? Do you find yourself minimizing how much you drink? Are you hiding your drinking? Have you tried to quit smoking numerous times with zero success? Do you find yourself fantasizing about the use of drugs? If you answered "yes" to these questions, then you might have a problem. Have you been to rehab without success? Are you turned off by 12 step programs? Are you interested in alternative approaches to recovery, such as marijuana maintenance, but are afraid you may be ridiculed? If you can relate to any of these sentiments then we might be a good match to work together.

Chronic Conditions

Chronic conditions are on the rise. The World Health Organization estimates that chronic conditions will be the leading cause of disability throughout the world by 2020.  Chronic disease is responsible for 7 out of 10 deaths and the number one cause of both morbidity and mortality in the U.S.  Most chronic conditions are managed by the individual afflicted with disorder. For individuals to effectively manage their health, they must be equipped with the skills to self-assess their needs and have the knowledge of appropriate action based on their self-assessment. Some individuals require the services of of a professional to assist them with ambivalence or fears to change and with setting realistic, obtainable, and safe goals.
