Sometimes you need the assistance of a trained professional to help you move beyond a difficult place.
What is counseling?
Some people have a misconception about what counseling is all about. Counseling is not laying on a black couch while you babble on aimlessly about your problems and then receive advice on how to fix your problems. Counseling is a collaborative process between the therapist and the client, where goals are identified and possible solutions are generated together. In counseling you honestly get out of it how much you are willing to put into it. My philosophy in therapy is the client is the expert on their experience. The client already possesses all of the tools needed to improve their situation. It is up to me as the therapist to help guide the client through the the therapeutic process and help the client tap into their underlying strength.
